When owner Sean Pulley asked Kole Price if he’d like to school Smart Lil Addy Tude in the SWRHA Futurity Novice Horse Open, his answer was a resounding “Yes!”
Marking a 72.5, the trip was successful for the duo, netting them $446.
“She’s a cool mare, so I was really excited when he asked if I wanted to school her. I just wanted to make a nice, smooth, clean run. More or less just go in there and let her breathe, but work on a few little things. She’s such an incredible-minded mare, one of the coolest ones I’ve had,” Price said.
Pulley is competing in the American Quarter Horse Association Select World Show in Oklahoma City.
“I wanted to feel what she’s like, so I had a good idea on how to prepare her,” Price said. “Hopefully our little tweaks [bring us] right where we need to be and we can bring home a big, shiny trophy at the world show.”
According to Price, the mare sired by Smart Spook and out of Miss Lil Addy Tude is incredibly talented but can get a little tight in the show pen.
“She’s very intense and timid. She tries too hard. Our warm up was just some flat work, I didn’t train on her or over-prepare. When we went in, we just tried to keep everything low key. We made some changes in the rollbacks and she just rolled back really good for Sean [in the show pen],” Price said.
