Casey Deary and three-year-old stallion Customize My Dream teamed up in the last few months, but that didn’t keep the experienced trainer from guiding the Devin Warren-owned horse to a score of 74 for the SWRHA Futurity Novice Horse Open Level 1 [1] Co-Championship. For the win, Deary earned $1,554.
“He’s a very special horse. Devin trained him and asked me in Tulsa – so the first part of September – if I’d be interested in trying him. I rode him and I loved him, so I took him home and started figuring out parts,” Deary said. “Devin did a great job training him, so it was just a matter of asking the horse the right way and it all lined up.”
Customize My Dream is sired by Magnum Chic Dream and out of Gunna Be Custom. With Warren’s blessing, Deary is pointing him towards the National Reining Horse Association Futurity in November.
“Honestly, we didn’t prep him to horse show. His tail was still up, his mane was still up and he had a work pad on there. I just wanted to go put all the parts together and make sure it would all operate,” Deary said. “He liked being in there. He was good, and he operated the same was inside that he did outside. I just stayed on pattern and didn’t fall off.”
Deary thanked Warren and his wife Jolene for their help sending the many videos it took for Deary to start putting the pieces together.
