There is plenty to see and do at the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity slated for October 19-24 at the historic Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Still, with the hustle and bustle of the event, including two arenas running at the same time and multiple parties and gatherings, it can be easy to miss out on some of the action. That’s where Traci Davenport comes in, freezing pivotal, in-arena moments with her cameras.
Many have seen her photos after her big-league debut at the Four Sixes National Reining Horse Association Derby presented by Markel this June as NRHA’s Official Media Photographer. The images she shared on NRHA’s social media platforms garnered thousands of likes, comments and shares. Now, Davenport will bring her talents to the SWRHA Futurity & Horse Show as the Official Show Photographer.
While having a show photographer is nothing new to reiners, the innovative technology that Davenport has created takes accessibility to a new level. With the app she designed, exhibitors can view and order their pictures after they are uploaded (typically every drag.) The app also has a notification feature that sends push alerts of start times, leader changes, and any other important information that may need to be announced. Exhibitors will be able to contact Davenport directly through the app as well.
Along with the app, Davenport has an established website where all photos can be seen, as well as a viewing station which will be set up at the event. Her website is TraciDavenportPhotography.com, and she will also post updates on her Facebook Page at Traci Davenport Photography. Keep an eye out for the specials that Davenport will be announcing this week.
Davenport, herself, will be shooting in the Coliseum Arena, and her team members will be capturing the action in the Ancillary Arena. She expects Coliseum Arena photos to be uploaded to the app during each drag break, and Ancillary Arena photos to be available at the completion of each class.
Along with reining photography, Davenport is an established photographer capturing barrel racing, portraits, ranch calls, and marketing. “I am super excited to shoot the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity. I have shot some smaller reining shows before, but I am really excited to see what people think about my work and style,” said Davenport “It is something that I have wanted to do for a long time.”
