Each year, Southwest Reining Horse Association members accumulate points by showing at SWRHAapproved events, and multiple class champions are awarded at the annual SWRHA Party of Champions.
In 2022, the SWRHA Board of Directors will be upping the ante. Through a sponsorship with Bob’s
Custom Saddles, the awards will increase with the addition of nine more saddles to be given to select
classes’ year-end champions.
Kathy McCutcheon has long served as a SWRHA president, officer and board member. “The SWRHA
Board of Directors is excited to award trophy saddles to our year-end champions. We know how hard
everyone works to reach that title and rewarding that dedication with a high-quality saddle seems long
overdue,” she said. “This is just one more way to say thank you to all who have supported, sponsored
and donated to the SWRHA. It will be an exciting race to the finish for a new saddle in 2022!”
While Prime Time Non Pro competitors already battle for a saddle, more year-end class champions will
be in the running for one. In 2022, the year-end champions who may expect to receive a saddle are:
Open, Intermediate Open, Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14-18, and Rookie
Levels 1, 2 and Prime Time. This will bring the total number of high-quality reining saddles being given
away at the end of the 2022 show season to 10.
In order to qualify for year-end awards, participants must have paid SWRHA memberships in good
standing and compete at SWRHA-approved shows. The 10 saddles will be awarded in January 2023 at
the SWRHA Party of Champions.
The SWRHA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the breeding, training, and
exhibition of the reining horse. Founded in 1984, the Southwest Reining Horse Association has been a
leader in creativity. It holds the claim for the creation of the very first stallion service auction and The
Ride and Slide class. Recently, it has hosted other innovative classes like the Rookie Challenge and the
Masters and Platinum Shootouts. With imaginative fundraisers like the SWRHA Boot Camp, and SWRHA
Trainers Calendar, the SWRHA has grown into one of the top affiliates of the National Reining Horse
Association. For more information about SWRHA, visit the website at SWRHA.com.
