The SWRHA Futurity is annually one of the most-watched futurities of the season for the National Reining Horse Association and this year is set for October 22 – 27 at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Participants come from across the nation and abroad for a last chance to tune and evaluate their reiners before Oklahoma City.
Along with the great futurity, the “Southwest” as it is affectionally called, is known for being innovative and fun. That should be the case for Friday night, October 25 when the Masters Non Pro Challenge makes it debut. The winner of this event for riders age 60 and Over will receive a trophy saddle and other special prizes!
The Masters Challenge will follow the traditional Friday Fun activities of the Markel Pizza Party, the Rein in Cancer Dog Race and the Leadline and Walk-Trot classes so the stage will be set to continue the fun.
Lindsey McCutcheon serves on the Southwest Reining Horse Association Board of Directors and is the creator of the new event “I am so excited to introduce this new class and showcase the 60 and up riders! It’s going to be a lot of fun and some great prizes will be awarded,” she said. “The Southwest always tries to come up with new events and I’m proud to be a part of this brand new class.”
Participation will be limited for this jackpot class that will use pattern 12 a have a $100 entry fee. For more information about the Southwest Reining Horse Association or the SWRHA Futurity, call 580-759-2572 or visit www.swrha.com.
