Janice Dickson has bided her time, waiting for her chance to climb aboard stallion ARC Wimpysgottagun and take him for a spin. Now, she’s at the helm and making the most of their partnership at the SWRHA Futurity, bringing home the Green Reiner Prime Time Championship with a score of 71.5.
“We bought him from the Arceses when he was a yearling,” Dickson said. “When we came on to the property, he was the first foal in the first pen, and it was kind of love at first sight.”
The nine-year-old stallion is sired by Gunnatrashya and out of Wimpys Little Chic. He was piloted by Matt Mills over the years before turning into Dickson’s mount for the affiliate classes.
“He’s semi-retired, but it’s fun to ride a really well-schooled horse. He’s the best,” Dickson said. “Matt has a pretty good way of training these horses. There have been a number of horses that he’s ridden for me, and it’s been [easy to follow].”
It was a chilly, rainy ride for Dickson and ARC Wimpysgottagun, but the seasoned show horse knew exactly how to cruise through.
“The run – I loved it. The spins were really good, and I did some good stops. I know next time what I can do better. I’m looking forward to that next ride,” Dickson said. “I want to thank Matt Mills and my husband Mark Dickson, and my family for supporting me. It’s fun to be a grandma and get my time to do what I like.”
