Just days remain until the start of the 39th Annual Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Horse Show, which will be held at the historic Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
The event kicks off Friday, October 20, with the Custom Made Dunnit Non Pro Futurity, which this year features an incredible $63,000 in added money – a major increase from years past. The Level 4 Non Pro boasts $30,000 in added money, and the Level 3 has $15,000. The Level 2 Non Pro increased to $10,000, the Level 1 to $5,000, and the Prime Time Non Pro has $3,000.
The weekend also debuts the SWRHA Futurity’s innovative new schedule, which flips the script by holding the two high-stakes Futurities the first weekend, and then holding a full week of ancillary competition.
The new format seems to be exciting to everyone, as the change gives an extra week between the SWRHA Futurity and the National Reining Horse Association Futurity. “It’s great because if our horses work well, they can have another full week of rest. If they have something we need to work on, we can still do that with the ancillary classes during the week,” noted one NRHA Professional.
The deadline to enter the Custom Made Dunnit Non Pro Futurity is Wednesday, October 18, at noon, and entries can be made online or at the Horse Show Office at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum.

About the SWRHA Futurity & Show
Held annually in the historic Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity & Show is known as one of the last stops for three-year-old reiners who will compete just a month later at the National Reining Horse Association Futurity. The event regularly ranks among the top 15 in payout for the NRHA, and draws contestants from across the United States. In addition to the Open and Non Pro Futurities, the SWRHA Futurity & Show offers two full slates of ancillary classes, so there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to get time in the show pen.
