Thanks to New Saddle Sponsors Scot Pennington & Warm Up Series Shows

Posted on March 29, 2023June 5, 2023 by Stevie White

14 Southwest Reining Horse Association Year-End Saddle to Be Awarded in 2023

In 2022, the Southwest Reining Horse Association awarded year-end championship saddles in ten classes. Though support from Bob’s Custom Saddles, champions of the Open, Intermediate Open, Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14-18, Rookie Level 1, Rookie Level 2. Prime Time Non Pro, and Prime Time Rookie received saddles.

For 2023, the SWRHA year-end award program has been enhanced with additional saddles. Thanks to the generosity of new saddle sponsors Scot Pennington and Mark Archer, 2023 year-end champions in 14 classes will receive saddles.

Pennington is sponsoring three year-end championship saddles in 2023. Scot, who is the president of Fahnestock Plumbing, HVAC and Electric in Wichita, Kansas, is not a reiner, but his wife Angie is an avid Non Pro.

He said, “When Angie won a saddle last year, I saw how much it meant to her. I want to give back to the association that gave so much to her.”

That means that the year-end champions for 2023 in the Ride and Slide Non Pro 1, Rookie Pro and Green Reiner Level 2 classes will receive year-end saddles.

But that’s not all the news for 2023. Thanks to Mark and Kyla Archer, the Green Reiner Level 1 will also earn a year-end saddle in 2023! Given in the name of their Warm Up Series of shows in Waco, Texas, this sponsorship brings the total of Southwest Reining Horse Association year-end saddles to 14.

Mark said, “We are sponsoring a saddle for this Green year-end class because we want to recognize the hard work these beginning riders have put in to get to where they are. We also want to help the SWRHA because this association has always been willing to help us.”

Southwest Reining Horse Association President, Jennifer Anderson, was appreciative of the new saddle sponsorships from the Penningtons and the Archers. She said, “We could not have saddles as year-end awards as many classes as we do without the support of our sponsors. Thank you to the Penningtons, the Archers and Bob’s Custom Saddles for making this happen! Your support is much appreciated!”

The Southwest Reining Horse Association is one of the oldest and largest affiliates of the National Reining Horse Association. Its annual show, the SWRHA Futurity, is ranked 15th Worldwide on the NRHA’s list of Leading Events. For information, visit the website at swrha.com.
