Ulisez Fernandez is gaining steam in the show pen, riding two horses to multiple titles in the second slate of the Ride and Slide on Saturday afternoon at the SWRHA Futurity. Jumpin Jac Trash (Trashadeous x Sail Away Rene) and RS Twistin Nic (Nic It In The Bud x Twisters Enola Gay) earned Fernandez the Open Level 2 Highpoint, Non Pro Level 1 Championship and Level 2 Co-Championship.
“I wanted to do better than yesterday [by] cleaning up a few details. Yesterday I changed leads in the circles and today I [was correct]. My turns were a lot smoother too,” Fernandez says. “I focused on staying centered while I was turning. They turn so fast it’s hard to stay centered. It helped a lot.”
Fernandez works with Yonathan Baruch, and has been working hard to increase his show-ring prowess.
“Jumping Jac Trash was very fun. He was turned out for six years and he just came back. He’s been good from the beginning. RS Twistin Nic was fun too,” Fernandez concluded.
