For Sally Berg, her mare Had Us At Hello has brought a feeling of comfort after a tough year.
“We lost her barn-mate and my soul-mare at the beginning of the year,” Berg explained. “After that, [Had Us At Hello] and I really bonded. She’s kind of become my heart horse, so I’m very grateful for her.”
With a score of 73.5, Berg tied for the Non Pro [1] Championship at the SWRHA Futurity, earning $816.
“I went in to prepare for next year, so I think I was much more relaxed than I usually am, which was good. She was really thinking about me and what I was asking and waiting on me,” Berg said. “[Now] she’s going to go home and have some time off to enjoy the Colorado weather.”
The six-year-old is sired Ref Black Mamba and out of Dunit N Continental. According to Berg, Had Us At Hello has been consistent in the limited age events throughout her career.
“She would have been more successful if I had my stuff together, but she’s a really lovely horse,” Berg said.
Berg thanked her mom, friends Becky, Kathleen and Sarah, as well as Trent Harvey and the Ryan Rushing team for their support.
