Abigayle Mixon Wins Open High Point on Lil Miss Whizzy
Abigayle Mixon and Lil Miss Whizzy won the Open high point buckle with two consistent runs. “She’s a four-year-old mare I got in May this year. She hadn’t been shown before I got her, and she just needed to be finished and get in the show ring,” Mixon explained. “She really felt like she came on here. Things started clicking and she showed really well.”
Lil Miss Whizzy, by Topsail Whiz out of Shining Lil Miss, is owned by Donald Duke. “She’ll get the rest of the year off and then we will get ready for shows next spring. I hope to hit some derbies with her next year,” Mixon said. “I thank Donald Duke for giving me the opportunity to show her, and my husband and family who are amazing. I have some awesome help. It’s a team effort from our barn. Everyone pitches in and helps me do what I do. I couldn’t do it without any of them.”

The pair also claimed the high point buckles for each of those classes and collected more than $900. Larcombe also was awarded the commemorative Carla Clay buckle.
“She was exceptional in the Non Pro. This morning I probably only loped around five minutes in the pen. She felt ready. That back pen is probably not the most horse-friendly pen to show in, but she just went in there and did her thing. She turned well and circled pretty like she always does. I was really happy with her,” Larcombe said of her 73.5 in the Non Pro classes. Shortly after, the pair marked a 72.5 in the Youth. “I probably went a little less with the speed in the youth. I didn’t want to run her hard. In a few spots, she beat me to a few things, but she is so consistent everywhere that I can’t blame her. If she beats me every now and then I’m not going to get mad,” she said.
Larcombe and Designed With Shine, by Smart And Shiney out of Taris Designer Genes, are qualified to compete in the North American Affiliate Championships in the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Limited Non Pro, and Youth 14 – 18. “I feel very confident going into the affiliates. Pitzing rides with Ruben Vandorp. “My horse has been with him for four years, and Ruben is teaching me how to ride him. I thank Ruben for his help, and my family for allowing me to chase these buckles,” she said.
Brianne Forrest Wins Rookie Level 1 (2) on GT Lite
Brianne Forrest piloted her horse GT Lite to win the Rookie Level 1 class on Sunday. “It went well today. We were a little short in our rundowns, but that’s ok. We still had a great score,” Forrest said.
Forrest purchased GT Lite, a four-year-old gelding by Gunners Tinseltown out of Nicastar Lite, earlier this year. “I bought him at the NRBC this year. This is our third show together. We’ve been learning and getting it together, but it’s going really well,” she said. “I thank the Brian Bell team for getting me prepared, as well as my boyfriend and my friends. It’s been a great year.”

I can mess up in the show pen and he corrects himself for me. I’m very fortunate to have him,” she said.
Pannell has owned High Roller Rooster, a 16-year-old by Gallo Del Cielo out of Hustlers High Roller, for 10 years. “He’s the only 16-year-old, two-year-old in the barn. He jumps at everything,” Pannell said with a laugh.
Pannell rides with Jared Leclair. “I don’t know what I would do without him. He will probably have no hair or be grey by the time I quit riding. He’s a wonderful coach,” Pannell said. “I was his very first customer years ago. When you’ve got the best, why go anywhere else?”
Valencia Pitzing and RC Fashion Chic finished second in the Prime Time Rookie.
