SWRHA Showcases Liz Haverty Memorial Trophy
Attendees at the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Show, set for October 20-25 at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma, will have an opportunity to see the Liz Haverty Memorial Trophy, which will commemorate the Non Pro High Point Award at the show along with a special plaque and Clint Haverty Handmade Headstall for the recipient.

Created in memory of a much-loved member of the reining community who passed away early in 2014, the award honors Liz Haverty’s passion for the industry. Liz was born Feb. 14, 1951, in Fort Worth and raised by J. Frank Zaner and Gloria Zaner. She and her husband of 37 years, Clint Haverty, owned and operated Haverty Ranch in Krum for 34 years where they raised many world champions in various breeds and NRHA champions.

She was a member of the National Reining Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association and the Appaloosa Horse Club and a multiple world champion in equine events.

The trophy, which was created by Marrita Black, is named “Unlimited” and commemorates Liz and Who Whiz It. It is inscribed with the following:

Everyone is born with unlimited potential
Perseverance can make the impossible possible
So stick to the fight when hardest hit and
When things go wrong, never quit.
Be unlimited.

The trophy will be displayed during the annual Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Gunners Special Nite Draw Party on Wednesday October 22.
