Jared LeClair Wins SWRHA Open on High Roller Rooster
When Jared Leclair, the last draw in the SWRHA Open Reining, rode into the arena on High Roller Rooster, the lead was held with a tie at 148 points between Casey Deary on Smartest Chiner Yet owned by Katie Firmin and Steve DeFrang on Gunnies Prescription owned by Mary Jansma.

That all changed when Leclair piloted High Roller Rooster to a score of 148.5 to take the win. Ive ridden this horse here before and been second in the open but never won it, he said. Indeed, the two have won a lot of Novice classes but this was the first Lawson bronze for them and the first major Open win.

Jared has ridden the horse for four years and owner Terry Pannell rides him as well. Currently, he is qualified for the Senior Reining at the AQHA World Show and is certainly a horse Jared enjoys showing. Im always smiling when I show him, he noted. Hes just so easy and fun to show.

Friday night offered even more fun in the form of a $1,320 first place check, a Bobs Custom Saddle and a Skyline buckle. DeFrang and Deary each collected $825 for their Reserve tie.

On Saturday the action continues with an 8 am start and the Youth classes, followed by the Level 3,2,1 Open Futurity Finals and by the Level 4 Open Finals to set to begin no earlier than 5 pm.
