Jordan Donnelly Tops SWRHA Youth 14-18 Ancillary on Smokems Whiz
Jordan Donnelly, of Aubrey, Texas, claimed the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Show Youth 14-18 Ancillary class with Smokems Whiz. The pair marked a 70.5, and won a Montana Silversmiths buckle, a National Reining Horse Association plaque, as well as a Pink Spur gift certificate.
“She was good. She was quiet in her circles. We had a little trouble in her run downs, but other than that it was one of the best runs I’ve had on her,” said Donnelly.
Smokems Whiz, by Topsail Whiz out of Peppys Smokem, began her career as a reined cow horse before being purchased by Donnelly’s family last year. “We bought her from Andy McNally. Since then I’ve won a bunch of Non Pro classes on her. I think I’ll just keep showing her until we sell her,” she said. “I thank my parents for their help, Andy for selling her, and all the people who have helped me with her in the past.”
Jaci Marley, Plainview, Texas, and Chexable won the Youth 14-18 Reserve title with a score of 70, winning a Kyle Tack saddle pad. Chexable is by Inwhizable and out of Megarita Chex.
Built in 1937, the historic Hardy Murphy Coliseum has been a mainstay as an Ardmore tourist attraction. Primarily designed to host horse and livestock shows, recent renovations to the facility have given it the flexibility to host even more events. Along with the space upgrades that allow the facility to stall 500 horses, the addition of air conditioning provides Hardy Murphy with the competitive ability to attract national and regional events. The renovations have resulted in a premier competitive equine facility.
